Agistment

Agistment
One of the main things we fell in love with about this property from the get-go were the paddocks. They're big, beautifully maintained, idyllic places for horses with large established trees and hedges. Nothing has been overlooked in regards to safety and flow of stock – it's clear to see everything has been thoughtfully set up by people with good stock-sense. Importantly, due to the value of the stock that have historically been raised and resided at the farm, no expense has been spared to get it right. The grass is strong and has been continuously improved through the thoughtful use of fescue, clover and rye grasses in addition to the total farm irrigation system that is second to none.
Racehorse Spelling

Racehorse Spelling
Depending on what your horses' requirements are we have a large variety of options for your spelling racehorse. Maybe it needs a safe secure colt paddock of its own, or perhaps it's a highly-strung filly who just needs to let down with one of our granny mares, stretch her legs in a big paddock and relax under a tree, take a breath and enjoy being a horse again. Possibly you just want somewhere to send your horse for a long weekend and a change of scene after a big week on the track. With winners of Cox Plates, Melbourne & Caulfield Cups and Oaks winners all having spent their spelling time at the farm, we think we'll have the right space, service and care to suit your requirements.
Foaling

Foaling

To be honest, it's luxe for a 300-acre property, but when mares like Faint Perfume and Norzita are foaling down, we don't spare the horses. The facility is monitored 24 hours a day during the foaling season and is fully floodlit with eight large foaling boxes (if required); centred by the night watchman building. The paddocks like everything else, are well grassed and flow through to well designed 10 day old paddocks as your foal gets to take the next step.
Weaning & Handling

Weaning & Handling

We take your foal through this early education process in a calm and progressive manner. Following weaning off the mare each mob of weanlings is assigned their own "Granny" to keep order amongst the group and provide a point of reference for behaviour in regards to people, weather and whatever else they come across in the months ahead. Good Grannies are like gold and are usually introduced to the mare and foal paddock 2 – 3 weeks prior to weaning, so the relationship is already established to some degree prior to Mum moving on.
Sales Preparation & Consignment

Sales Preparation & Consignment

For owners, this is the end of a long road of decision making and investment. We know how essential it is to get a sales prep right, no matter what age the horse is. We fuss and continually tweak everything - from your horses paddocking and feed/supplement program to their individual grooming routine and rugging right down to the staff member who does the most work with it. Our sales preparation is not a one-size-fits-all program, we want each-and-every horse to hit the parade ground well educated, ready for the job and looking like a bride on her wedding day.
Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation
We have the time, focus, skill, support staff and attention to detail to make sure your bloodstock are given the very best chance to recover as quickly and thoroughly as possible with minimal complications. The property has a variety of stable, yard and paddock sizes. Our walk-in-walk-out covered yards, small day yards and small paddocks enable a horse to recover however its needed. If required, a post-recovery fitness program can also be managed at Lime Country. We can integrate a variety of exercise options into your horses' rehabilitation routine. From hand-walking to the use of our computerised treadmill or horse walker; riding or lunging work in the floodlit all-weather arena or hacking around our lanes and paddocks before moving on to the 1200m turf track. We can outline a complete rehab-program or to collaborate your own vets and trainer for the very best outcome.
Pre-Training

Pre-Training

Pre-training. It's an important job. The right weight, the right level of fitness, a happy horse who's looking forward to getting back to the track, refreshed and settled. One of the things we love about the farm is the variety of options for pre-trainers & breakers. From treadmills and walkers, to riding around the farms lanes and on to the turf track, through to using the purpose built lunge or doing some dressage or jumping in the all-weather arena. We have the facilities the experience and the riders to provide a top-notch service for our clients and an individual level of care and planning for their horses.
Breaking-in

Breaking-in
We drum calmness, consistency and concentration into all our staff, particularly where our breakers are concerned. Our staff know that each time they have contact with a young horse they are teaching it something. When they catch it, muck out it's box, tack it up, ride it out or put it to bed, its done calmly, consistently and with concentration. Horses love routine and like to know what's coming next. It settles them and allows them to relax and focus on what we want them to do. We like to produce a well-finished young horse who the strappers' in the trainer's yard love. The horse that gets the extra time, the extra pats & attention, the one that nothing gets missed on. You might say it's a crafty way of looking out for your investment for the long-term.
