Lot 64 Shooting To Win x Sotela filly

Lime Country Thoroughbred's Shooting To Win filly out of Sotela was knocked down to Nick Wakin's Hilldene Farm and Peter Ford Bloodstock for $130,000, on the first day of the Magic Millions Gold Coast National Weanling Sale on Thursday.

"We liked her on type and she was bred according to our matrix in terms of breeding overlay," said Watkin who recently established Hilldene Farm, a boutique nursery near Seymour in Victoria.

"She's a beautiful feminie filly and she met a lot of criteria that we look for in terms of conformation and pedigree so we're very happy with her.

"She'll come back to our farm in Melbourne where we'll prepare her for the yearling sales, probably Melbourne Premier."

From the first crop of Shooting to Win this filly is out of the Commands mare Sotela a sister of dual Group One winner Sports and stakes winners Seika and Medals.

Kitchwin Hills will also present Lot 427 Rubick x Layette on behalf of Lime Country Thoroughbreds.

"Part of Lime Country's business strategy is the trading of quality broodmares with a 12-24 month turn around," said Lime Country's Jo Griffin. "We aim to land a quality foal, put the mare back in foal and put both the mare and foal back through the sales ring, offering good, genuine mares and weanlings for sale. Sotela (Lot 882) and Marechal (Lot 1390) are mares we will be presenting at this sale that are examples of that model."
